Pecos Valley Production Exits Sunland Park Market, Sells Dispensary to Score 420

In a notable shift in the regional cannabis landscape, Pecos Valley Production (PVP) has finalized the sale of its Sunland Park dispensary on 1925 Appaloosa Dr, Sunland Park, NM 88063, to Score 420, a rapidly expanding New Mexico retailer. The move signals both PVP’s evolving business strategy and Score 420’s continued commitment to growth along the Texas–New Mexico border.

A Strategic Realignment for PVP

Founded in 2016 by the Greathouse family, Pecos Valley Production has roots in agriculture dating back to its former life as a Roswell-based dairy operation. That same year, the family converted their facilities into a vertically integrated cannabis cultivation site, one of the first of its kind in New Mexico.

PVP opened its flagship dispensary in Roswell in August 2016 and expanded steadily throughout the state, with additional locations in Las Cruces, Hobbs, Clovis, and Sunland Park. The brand quickly earned a reputation for reliable product quality and strong customer service, which helped it gain popularity among local buyers, including many from El Paso.

Though the company has not publicly commented on the Sunland Park sale, the decision to exit a key border city could reflect a broader effort to consolidate operations in higher-performing markets.

Score 420 Expands Borderland Footprint

Score 420, now the new operator of the Sunland Park site, continues to carve out a major presence in New Mexico’s adult-use cannabis industry. Known for its competitive pricing, wide product selection, and consumer-friendly service, the company has been steadily growing its footprint, particularly in communities with strong out-of-state demand.

Score 420 currently located on 2355 McNutt Rd, Sunland Park, NM 88063

With this acquisition, Score 420 now operates 10 dispensaries statewide, including locations in:

  • Albuquerque (Old Town, Nob Hill, East Central, Old Coors)
  • Las Cruces
  • Clovis
  • Hobbs
  • Farmington
  • Alamogordo
  • Fort Sumner
  • Sunland Park

The addition of Sunland Park is particularly strategic, placing Score 420 in one of New Mexico’s highest-traffic cannabis corridors due to proximity to El Paso.

A Brand Rooted in Inclusion and Community Engagement

Beyond retail expansion, Score 420 has distinguished itself through a commitment to community values. The company is vocal in its support of the LGBTQ+ community, often partnering with local organizations and promoting an inclusive shopping experience.

This customer-first approach has made Score 420 a preferred stop for both locals and out-of-town consumers seeking a welcoming and accessible dispensary experience.

What This Means for Borderland Consumers

For consumers in El Paso and southern New Mexico, the change in ownership may come with a fresh product menu and revised pricing strategy. While PVP emphasized vertically integrated offerings and house-grown flower, Score 420 is known for carrying a wider range of third-party brands—potentially giving shoppers more variety at different price points.

The move also reflects a larger trend of market realignment, as midsize operators reassess their retail networks amid growing competition and shifting consumer patterns.

The Road Ahead

Sunland Park continues to be a major retail destination for Texas residents seeking legal cannabis access. With Score 420 stepping into a newly acquired location and PVP focusing on its core markets, this latest transition underscores the dynamism and maturation of New Mexico’s cannabis economy.

The Green Border will continue monitoring retail shifts and market updates that shape access and experience in the El Paso-Sunland Park corridor.
